FREE Community Acting Workshop

February 28th - March 8th

Led by visiting artist Natalia Carrero

Natalia Carrero is a Colombian performing artist with more than ten years of experience in theater, dance, and circus. Her versatility has allowed her to work as an actress, director, and playwright, building a career marked by creativity and a strong commitment to culture.

She is currently the director of a theater group in Pereira, Colombia, where she has developed comedy productions, show-format performances, musicals, and dance presentations inspired by the Coffee Cultural Landscape. In addition, she is an actress with La Escafandra, a renowned theater company with 22 years of experience, of which she has been a member for the past three years.

Her artistic work also extends to community processes in Bogotá, where she has collaborated with vulnerable populations using techniques from the Theater of the Oppressed and Paulo Freire’s pedagogy. She has also led inclusive projects with people with disabilities, promoting learning and self-expression through the arts.

Natalia is seeking new theatrical techniques that integrate dance and theater as creative languages through improvisation and diverse forms of body expression. Her purpose is to reclaim Colombian culture and roots by teaching traditional dances and showcasing the country’s diversity through its traditions and artistic expressions.
